The ACCA Course in the UAE: Structure, Duration and Cost
Thirteen exams, one ethics module and 36 months of experience — what the ACCA course involves in the UAE, what ACCA charges, and what only a centre can quote.
acca uae course
The ACCA Qualification is thirteen exams across three levels — Applied Knowledge, Applied Skills and Strategic Professional — plus the Ethics and Professional Skills module and 36 months of relevant supervised experience against nine performance objectives. ACCA publishes registration and exam fees in sterling; Applied Knowledge exam fees are set by the UAE exam centre, so no honest all-in dirham total can be quoted in advance.

#What the course actually consists of
The ACCA Qualification is not a taught course with a start date and a campus. It is an exam and experience framework you register with directly, and tuition is a service you buy separately — or do not buy at all. That distinction is the single most useful thing to understand before comparing prices in this market, because the thing a Dubai institute sells you is tuition for the exams, not the qualification.
The framework has three components, read from ACCA's own qualification structure page on 21 August 2026. Thirteen exams across three levels. The Ethics and Professional Skills module, which is mandatory. And thirty-six months of relevant work experience assessed against nine performance objectives, without which you remain an affiliate rather than a member.
The exam levels build in a specific order. Applied Knowledge covers Business and Technology, Financial Accounting and Management Accounting. Applied Skills adds Corporate and Business Law, Taxation, Financial Reporting, Performance Management, Financial Management and Audit and Assurance. Strategic Professional requires both Essentials papers — Strategic Business Leader and Strategic Business Reporting — plus two Options chosen from Advanced Financial Management, Advanced Audit and Assurance, Advanced Taxation and Advanced Performance Management.
| Level | Papers | Exemptions available? |
|---|---|---|
| Applied Knowledge | 3 — Business and Technology, Financial Accounting, Management Accounting | Yes, on an accredited prior qualification |
| Applied Skills | 6 — Corporate and Business Law, Taxation, Financial Reporting, Performance Management, Financial Management, Audit and Assurance | Yes, on an accredited prior qualification |
| Strategic Professional | 4 — SBL and SBR, plus two Options from AFM, AAA, ATX and APM | No — never granted at this level |
#How long it takes, and why no honest page prints a single number
"ACCA course duration in UAE" is asked as if it had one answer, and it does not. ACCA's own qualification structure page states no typical duration and no maximum, and this page will not supply one it cannot source.
What can be stated is what the duration is actually made of, and every one of these is verifiable. The number of exams you must sit, which falls if you hold an accredited prior qualification and cannot fall below Strategic Professional's four papers. The number of exam sittings you use, since papers are attempted in scheduled sessions and a resit means waiting for the next one. And the thirty-six months of practical experience, which runs on employment time rather than study time — although it may be accumulated before, during or after the exams, so it frequently overlaps them rather than following them.
That last point is where most published "finish in X years" claims quietly break. A student who passes every paper first time but works two years in a role with no qualified supervisor is not a member at the end of it. A student who takes longer on exams while working in a signed-off role may qualify sooner. Duration is a function of your employment as much as your studying.
Exemptions shorten the exam half, and only that half
ACCA's exemptions calculator is the authority on what a prior degree earns, and its institution list returns 49 United Arab Emirates institutions, read on 17 August 2026. Exemptions apply to Applied Knowledge and Applied Skills only, never to Strategic Professional, and never for work experience. Ask a college which of its programmes carried ACCA accreditation in your graduation year rather than whether it teaches ACCA — the two are different claims and only the first is checkable.
#What it costs: the fees ACCA publishes
ACCA publishes a global fees and charges schedule in pounds sterling, and it is the only fee list on this subject with an awarding body behind it. The 2026 schedule was read on 21 August 2026 and the figures below are taken from it. They are the fees payable to ACCA. They are not the cost of qualifying in the UAE, and the difference is explained in the next section.
Notice the recurring line. The student annual subscription is charged every year you remain registered, not once — so a longer route costs more before a single exam fee is counted. Notice also the late entry column: a late Applied Skills entry costs £409 against £160 standard, and a late Strategic Professional entry costs £467. That is the most avoidable money on the whole list.
| Item | Fee |
|---|---|
| Initial registration (all levels) | £89 |
| Re-registration | £89 |
| Student annual subscription 2026 | £140 per year |
| Exemption, per Applied Knowledge exam | £86 |
| Exemption, per Applied Skills exam | £114 |
| Applied Knowledge exam entry | Set by the exam centre |
| Applied Skills exam, standard entry (December 2026) | £160 |
| Applied Skills exam, late entry | £409 |
| Strategic Business Leader, standard entry | £282 |
| Strategic Business Reporting or an Options paper, standard entry | £208 |
| Any Strategic Professional paper, late entry | £467 |
| Affiliate subscription 2026 | £163 |
| Member admission fee | £326 |
| Member annual subscription 2026 | £326 |
#Why no total cost in dirhams can be quoted
Three costs sit between the sterling schedule above and the number you will actually spend, and none of them is published by ACCA.
The first is the Applied Knowledge exam fee. ACCA's schedule states plainly that those fees are set by individual computer-based exam centres. Since ACCA exams in the UAE are taken in centres — its exam availability table lists the United Arab Emirates as a centre country for both on-demand and session exams — the first three papers are priced by whichever centre you book with. There is no ACCA-published UAE figure to quote.
The second is tuition. Course fees at a UAE institute are a commercial price set by that institute, varying by delivery mode, class size and the papers covered. This site names no provider and quotes no course fee, because it holds no verified price list and a plausible range invented from advertising would be worse than the refusal.
The third is the exchange rate. ACCA's fees are charged in sterling, so the dirham cost of the same fee changes with the rate on the day you pay it. Printing a conversion table here would make this page wrong within a week and keep it wrong for years.
The honest method: take the sterling total from the schedule for the papers you will actually sit, add the exemption fees the calculator says you owe, ask two named exam centres for their Applied Knowledge price in writing, ask two named tuition providers for a written quote covering the same papers, and convert at the rate on the day. That total is yours, it is checkable, and nobody can publish it for you.
#Choosing where to study, without a ranking
There is no published ranking of UAE tuition providers and this page will not invent one. What ACCA does publish is an approval tier — Platinum, Gold and Silver Approved Learning Partner — assessed against its global benchmarks for course management, delivery and student support. Platinum is the highest tier, available only to partners teaching the ACCA Qualification, and it requires the partner to demonstrate student pass rates exceeding global averages for most of the exams it teaches.
That pass-rate condition is the only objective quality signal available in this market. Use it properly: ask a provider for its current approval level and check the answer against ACCA's own learning partner directory rather than the badge on its website. Approval lapses, tiers change, and a badge is a graphic file.
The university route is a different question again. A UAE university's relationship with ACCA is usually about exemption accreditation rather than teaching, which is why the exemptions calculator — not a prospectus — is the document that answers whether a degree is worth anything to your route.
#What the course does, and does not, license you to do here
Completing the ACCA Qualification does not by itself authorise regulated work in the UAE, and the distinction matters more here than in most markets.
Signing a statutory audit report requires registration in the Ministry of Economy and Tourism's practising auditors register. The gateway credential behind it is the Emirates Fellowship: Ministerial Resolution No. (111-2) of 2022 approved the programme, and its Programme Guidelines exempt holders of an ACCA professional certificate from the first and second exams only, never from the third, UAE Tax and Regulation. Note also that Federal Decree-Law No. 41 of 2023 makes "Chartered Accountant" a protected designation — Article 8(2) states the title may not be used without a professional licence from the Ministry, whatever a foreign body has awarded you.
Representing a taxpayer before the Federal Tax Authority requires listing on its register of tax agents plus a licence from the competent local authority, under Article 12(2) of Federal Decree-Law No. 28 of 2022. A professional qualification is relevant to the second of the three qualifying routes in Article 12(1)(c) of Cabinet Decision No. 74 of 2023 — a certified bachelor's in another field, plus a valid professional qualification from a recognised institution as prescribed by the Authority, plus three years' experience obtained in the last five. Relevant is not the same as sufficient, and ACCA is not a UAE tax-agent qualification.
Every ACCA figure here was read on 21 August 2026 and every UAE instrument on 17 August 2026. Fees change annually and the qualification structure is under a published reform programme; check the schedule for the year you are entering before you budget.

Frequently asked questions
What are the ACCA course details in the UAE?
The qualification is thirteen exams across three levels — three Applied Knowledge, six Applied Skills and four Strategic Professional — plus the mandatory Ethics and Professional Skills module and thirty-six months of relevant experience against nine performance objectives. You register with ACCA directly; tuition in the UAE is bought separately from an Approved Learning Partner or studied independently using ACCA's free Study Hub.
How long is the ACCA course in the UAE?
ACCA publishes no typical duration and this page will not invent one. Three things set it: how many exams you must sit after exemptions, how many sittings you use, and the thirty-six months of practical experience, which runs on employment time and may be accumulated before, during or after the exams. A student without a qualified supervisor at work will not qualify on exam speed alone.
How much does the ACCA course cost in the UAE?
ACCA's 2026 schedule charges £89 to register, £140 a year student subscription, £86 or £114 per exemption, £160 for a standard Applied Skills entry and £208 or £282 for Strategic Professional papers. Applied Knowledge exam fees are set by the UAE exam centre, and tuition is priced by the provider, so ACCA's schedule is only part of the bill.
What is the total cost of ACCA in the UAE?
No honest total can be published. Applied Knowledge exam fees are set by individual exam centres, tuition is a commercial price set by each provider, and ACCA charges in sterling so the dirham figure moves with the exchange rate. Build your own total from the published schedule, written quotes from two named centres and two named providers, and the rate on the day you pay.
Can I do the ACCA course in the UAE?
Yes. You register with ACCA directly and sit the exams in a UAE exam centre, because ACCA's availability table lists the United Arab Emirates as a centre country for both on-demand and session exams. Tuition is available from Approved Learning Partners, and ACCA's Study Hub provides full-syllabus digital study material to registered students at no charge.
Does completing ACCA let me practise as an auditor or tax agent in the UAE?
No. Signing audit reports requires registration in the Ministry of Economy and Tourism practising auditors register, reached through the Emirates Fellowship under Ministerial Resolution No. 111-2 of 2022, which exempts ACCA holders from two of its three exams only. Acting as a tax agent requires listing on the Federal Tax Authority register plus a local licence under Article 12 of Federal Decree-Law No. 28 of 2022.
