EmaraTax Guides: Which FTA Document Answers Your Question

There is no single EmaraTax user guide PDF. A map of what the FTA does publish — microsite, taxpayer user manuals, infographics — and where each one lives.

The Federal Tax Authority publishes no single EmaraTax user guide. What exists is four separate families of material: the EmaraTax microsite with its quick-start pages and walk-through videos, a 102-item FAQ list, dated infographics for password reset, UAE Pass and payment, and per-service Taxpayer User Manuals held in three tax-specific Guides, References and Public Clarifications libraries.

#What the Authority actually publishes, and what it does not

The search that brings most people here — emaratax user guide pdf — assumes a document that does not exist. There is no single, downloadable manual covering the EmaraTax platform end to end. Checked against the Federal Tax Authority's own site on 21 August 2026, the guidance is split into four families, each with a different publisher inside the Authority, a different format and a different age:

  • The EmaraTax microsite on tax.gov.ae — short quick-start pages, walk-through videos, news and webinars.
  • The EmaraTax FAQ list — 102 numbered items, last updated 22 May 2024.
  • Infographics — one-page PDFs for password reset, UAE Pass sign-in and payment, all dated 2022.
  • Taxpayer User Manuals — long, versioned, screen-by-screen PDFs, one per service rather than one per platform, filed inside the tax-specific guides libraries.

That split is the reason so many people conclude the FTA documents nothing. It documents a great deal; it simply never assembled it into one book, and the piece you need is usually a manual named after a service you have not heard of yet.

#The microsite: the closest thing to an official quick-start

The Authority's EmaraTax microsite sits at tax.gov.ae/en/emaratax.aspx and is the nearest thing published to a portal guide. Its navigation, read on 21 August 2026, carries eight items: Quick start guide, Create an account/login, Submit tax returns & pay, Apply for a refund, Walk-through videos, News, FAQs and EmaraTax Webinars.

It is a migration-era site and it still reads like one. The quick start page opens with "EmaraTax is now live", tells the reader to go to https://eservices.tax.gov.ae/ for the FTA's online services, and states that "this dedicated microsite contains important information about EmaraTax and is intended to help you use the new platform. More content will be added over time." Its most quoted sentence is the one worth keeping: the web address "will remain unchanged even after the transition to EmaraTax".

One quirk will catch you if you navigate by URL. The Create an account/login page is published at a path ending process.key.message/payments.aspx — it carries the login, migration and password-reset copy, not payments. The FTA's own microsite navigation points there. Never judge an FTA page by its slug.

The Walk-through videos page is the format most people should try first for a screen they cannot find, and it is separate from the written material — the guides libraries do not index it.

#The registration guide you are looking for is a Taxpayer User Manual

Searches for an emaratax registration guide are almost always looking for one specific document: the Taxpayer User Manual — Corporate Tax Self Registration, version 3.0.0.0, dated 10 June 2025, 46 pages. It walks the whole application: the login screen and the Sign Up button, selecting the Taxable Person and clicking View, the Actions menu on the Corporate Tax tile, the instructions-and-guidelines checkbox, then the five sections of the form — Entity Details, Identification Details, Contact Details, Authorized Signatory, and Review and Declaration — followed by post-submission correspondence and application history.

It also carries one rule that decides which route you are even on: "you can self-register for Corporate Tax if you are not registered for Value Added Tax or Excise Tax yet." A business already holding a VAT registration is not a self-registration case.

The manuals are versioned like software, not like guidance. This one shows versions 1.0.0.0 and 2.0.0.0 in its own document-control table before the current release. If you saved a copy last year, you are reading a superseded screen flow.

The table below lists manuals verified as downloadable on 21 August 2026. It is not the complete set — the libraries are paginated and the Authority adds to them — but it covers the tasks people search for most.

#Where the manuals live: three libraries, one per tax

There is no EmaraTax library. The manuals are filed by tax, in three separate collections all titled Guides, References & Public Clarifications, and all three are linked from the FTA homepage:

  • Corporate Tax — tax.gov.ae/en/taxes/corporate.tax/corporate.tax.guides.references.aspx
  • VAT — tax.gov.ae/en/taxes/Vat/guides.references.aspx
  • Excise Tax — tax.gov.ae/en/taxes/excise.tax/guides.listing.aspx

Economic Substance Regulations material sits outside all three, on its own guide page.

Each library mixes document types in one list: full tax guides, public clarifications, tax bulletins and user manuals, each card showing its type, an issue date and a file size. They are paginated — the corporate tax library ran to six pages when read on 21 August 2026 — and the pagination is a server-side control, so the later pages are not reachable by editing the URL and are unlikely to be indexed by a search engine. If a manual is not on the first page, browse rather than search.

The practical consequence: look up the guide by the tax, then by the service. A corporate tax deregistration manual is never going to appear in a VAT library, and neither library contains anything describing EmaraTax as a whole.

#The infographics, and the dates printed on them

Three one-page PDFs do more work than their length suggests, and all three date from the 2022 migration.

The password reset infographic (30 November 2022) is the only document that sorts the reset problem by the thing that actually decides it — whether you still have the registered inbox. It sets out five scenarios: the reset email arrived; you have the inbox but no email; you have no inbox but can still log in; you have no inbox, cannot log in, but a mobile number is linked; and you have no inbox, cannot log in and no mobile linked, where the only published route is the FTA contact centre.

The UAE Pass login infographic sets out three linking scenarios, which is where the notorious "linking logged me out" behaviour is documented as intended rather than broken.

The EmaraTax payment infographic (English, dated 18 November 2022) is linked from the quick start page and covers the payment channels.

One conflict has to be flagged rather than smoothed over.

#How to tell a real FTA document from a copy of one

This matters more here than on most topics, because the material is scattered enough that people reach for whatever a search engine hands them, and a tax filing gets made on the strength of it.

  1. Start from the Authority's own library page, not from a file

Open the guides library for the relevant tax and click through from the card. The card carries the document type and the issue date; a bare PDF found by search carries neither.

  2. Check the document control block

A genuine taxpayer user manual opens with a Document Control Information table listing every version and its date. If there is no version block, it is not one of the Authority's manuals.

  3. Read the date before you follow a screen

The manuals describe screens as they were on the release date. A 2024 manual will not show a 2026 field, and the FTA does not annotate what changed between versions.

  4. Do not rely on a copy someone rehosted

The manuals carry a confidentiality notice on their cover even though the Authority publishes them openly, and rehosted copies are never re-uploaded when a new version replaces them. Link to the FTA's address and re-download before you rely on it.

  5. Treat the FAQ list as a screen guide, not a tax guide

Its 102 items were last updated on 22 May 2024. They remain reliable about how the portal behaves and are older than the corporate tax filing cycle they are often quoted on.

#What none of the FTA guidance covers

Four gaps are worth naming, because looking for them is how people end up on unofficial documents.

The sign-up screen itself. Every manual names the Sign Up button and then moves on. No published FTA document walks the account-creation form, its password policy or its field list.

Anything not administered by the FTA. goAML registration for anti-money-laundering reporting is a separate national system with its own registration route; it is not an EmaraTax service and no EmaraTax guide describes it. The same is true of trade licence renewals and labour filings.

Change logs. New manual versions replace old ones silently. If you need to know what moved between v2 and v3, the Authority does not tell you.

Arabic and English parity. Both language versions exist, but nothing published states that they are updated at the same time, so this page does not assert it.

Where the answer genuinely is not in the published material, the Authority's own channels — its contact centre, its complaint and feedback service card, and its private clarification service for a binding view on a tax position — are the documented next step, and each publishes its own response times.

FAQ Answers to the questions people actually ask

Frequently asked questions

Is there an official EmaraTax user guide PDF?

No single one. The Federal Tax Authority publishes no consolidated EmaraTax manual. What it does publish is a microsite with quick-start pages and walk-through videos, a 102-item FAQ list, three dated infographics from the 2022 migration, and a separate Taxpayer User Manual for each individual service, filed in the guides library for the relevant tax rather than in one EmaraTax collection.

Where do I find the EmaraTax registration guide?

For corporate tax it is the Taxpayer User Manual for Corporate Tax Self Registration, version 3.0.0.0 dated 10 June 2025, published in the Corporate Tax Guides, References and Public Clarifications library on tax.gov.ae. It walks the entire application, including the five form sections and what happens after submission. A separate manual covers registration run through a Tas'heel service centre agent.

What does the EmaraTax portal guide on tax.gov.ae cover?

The EmaraTax microsite carries eight sections: a quick start guide, create an account and login, submitting tax returns and paying, applying for a refund, walk-through videos, news, FAQs and webinars. It is migration-era material, so it is strongest on getting into the platform and weakest on anything introduced since, such as the corporate tax filing cycle.

Which EmaraTax guide should I read first?

Work backwards from the task, not from the platform. If the problem is getting in, use the password reset and UAE Pass infographics. If it is a specific application, find the Taxpayer User Manual for that service in the guides library for that tax. If it is how a screen behaves, use the FAQ list and the walk-through videos. No document covers all three.

There is nowhere for this to send

No enquiry address has been set up for this site, so a form here would take your question, your name and your email and throw them away while telling you they had arrived. Rather than do that, it is switched off.

When it opens, what is promised is a written answer citing the instrument it rests on, and no phone number will be asked for. Until then the pages are the answer: every one names its sources and links them.
